Princess Leia

While making the Luke Skyywalker card I decided that I'd like to add another Slave Leia card to the collection.  I used the same Rolling Stone beach photoshoot image already on a faux 1983 Return of the Jedi inspired sticker, but it's such a fun image of such an iconic character that I wanted to give it the complete card treatment.

On the card back I did a little background on the origin of the photo for anyone unfamiliar with it since it's obviously not a scene from the movie.

Luke Skyywalker

This custom card is pretty straight forward.  It was a "duh" moment when I came across my 2 Live Crew As Nasty As They Wanna Be cassette tape while going through some of my old "junk boxes".  I guess the reason I hadn't thought of this as a custom card until now is that Luther Campbell hasn't used the moniker "SkyYwalker" since 1990 when Star Wars creator George Lucas filed suit against him for copyright infringement.

An older cousin of mine bought me -with my allowance money- the dirty version of As Nasty As They Wanna Be on cassette, and boy did I think I was a hard-ass for listening to it.  The double platinum album was super explicit for its time being the first album ever to be deemed "legally obscene".  I would have to believe some 32 years later, with a song like "WAP" reaching #1 on the Billboard Hot 100, that any track on As Nasty As They Wanna Be would be looked at as par for where music is these days.

This card is of course done in the style of the 1983 Topps Return of the Jedi set.

Princess Cheri

This past Star Wars Day fitness model Ana Cheri posted a great cosplay picture of herself in the Princess Leia slave bikini.  Obviously that had to become a custom '83 style Return of the Jedi card.

Princess Leia, Beach Slave

I've always loved the Princess Leia photo shoot Carrie Fisher did with Rolling Stone magazine at the beach in her slave bikini.  The photo shoot was part of an article the magazine did on 1983's Return of the Jedi.

As Jabba the Hutt's slave in that gold bikini Princess Leia was the first crush of an entire generation.  Of course she's looking sexy but I also like the playful frolicky nature of the photos.  There's this one particular photo (above) that is my favorite of the shoot and it's probably pretty easy to see why, so I wanted to use it for a card.  The question was what design?  I thought about making it look like a Bench Warmers set from the '90s but I didn't think the design would be quite recognizable enough.  So, I made it into last minute supplement to the 1983 Topps ROTJ sticker insert set.

This is a faux sticker.  I actually did have some die-cut stickers made up of this one but I wasn't 100% pleased with the die-cut so I'm keeping it faux.

Fun Fact: According to Wikipedia Carrie's princess breasts had to be taped into place so they didn't escape the bikini top.

Tracey Eddon

In 2009 photos from 1982 of Carrie Fisher and her stunt double Tracey Eddon sunbathing in identical Slave Leia bikinis were leaked to the internet.  If you fall in a certain age bracket chances are that Princess Leia was your first crush, so multiply that times two and you can understand why this behind-the-scenes shot caused such a stir.

The photo is from the set of Return of the Jedi.  It's in Yuma, Arizona which served as Luke Skywalker's home planet of Tatooine.  Carrie and Tracey are soaking up rays between scenes on the deck of Jabba's Sail Barge.

I made this card as sort of a custom supplement to Topps' 1983 Return of the Jedi card set.

Huge TTM success from Miss Eddon
